Neighbors Helping Neighbors - Mutual Aid

At Smithers & Friends, mutual aid means showing up for one another. When a neighbor needs a ride, a meal, or a helping hand, we do what small towns do best: we pull together.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that everyone in the Upper Kanawha Valley has what they need to live with dignity and comfort. Whether it’s a volunteer driver taking a senior to the doctor, a pantry box delivered to a family in need, or a care kit for a child entering foster care, every act of giving strengthens the fabric of our community.

We believe help should come from the heart.
Because when neighbors care for neighbors, everyone thrives.

Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Get There.
In rural West Virginia, a simple ride can make all the difference. Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley connects compassionate volunteer drivers with local seniors who need safe, reliable transportation to doctor visits, grocery stores, and essential appointments. Each trip is more than just miles traveled; it’s a moment of friendship, care, and dignity shared between neighbors.

Disaster Relief Fund

When a crisis hits a neighbor, your gift becomes the lifeline: heat restored, food on the table, a family sheltered. Every dollar goes directly to residents facing emergencies in the Upper Kanawha Valley. Give today, and help us respond faster, stronger, and with the dignity our people deserve.
